I arrived in Japan only two weeks before agreeing to take over as incoming editor for C@lling Japan. I thought it would be a great way to get involved and learn about the JALT CALL SIG. Despite having been a layout designer for many other newsletters in the past, I momentarily forgot how time consuming and unpredictable newsletters can be.
One thing that makes newsletters so unpredictable is the uncertainty of submissions. This has always been the major drawback to doing them.
If this newsletter is to succeed, its future solely depends upon the readership. We need your ideas and your willingness to put a little time into writing them down and submitting them.
Its really frustrating when the copy runs short and the deadline has well passed or has been pushed back yet again. I hope that you will be willing to help out.
This issue would not have been possible without the collaborative spirit and dedication of the contributors, as well as the support provided by Paul Lewis, David Dycus, Nina Padden, Michael Geffon, and Timothy Gutierrez.
Most of all, I owe a great debt of thanks and appreciation to Elin Melchior for her never-ending guidance, keen eye and support.
Submissions for the summer issue need to be sent to: <mhunter@gol.com>
